Readers and Reading Help

The school has readers in English and Italian that children can take home to assist in their learning and literacy. The books range in levels from 1-30, Level 1 being the easiest. Readers can be changed each day so students are encouraged to return them regularly. Kindergarten children are assigned readers in Term 2 and given a plastic folder and a sheet or booklet to record reading progress. Teachers welcome help in the classroom from parents/carers able to listen to children read.

Reporting to Parents

Yarralumla Primary School believes that communicating student achievement in the most effective way possible is essential. Our aim is to develop a partnership between teachers, parents and students to ensure reporting is timely, accessible and informative. Students need feedback and opportunities to reflect on their learning so that further learning can occur. Parents need thorough information about students and need to be involved in the reporting process through a variety of communication methods. Term Overviews are distributed at the beginning of each term and provide an outline of the curriculum program and special events.

Reports from Teachers

Yarralumla Primary School follows the ACT and Federal Government’s requirement to report Years 1 to 6 students’ progress in an A to E format. The school provides all students with a written school report at the end of Term 2 and Term 4. For more information on reporting contact the School Office or the Principal.
